Super Paper Mario, it blows that you only get Luigi almost at the very end of the game. After that, I basically Power Bounce every boss except Cortez from that point (Vivian's my girl for that one) but that's fascinating to hear that Flurrie can blow away those swords, had no idea that would work since he's a boss character so you don't expect those kind of things to work. I always find the first 15 possible Star Pieces before confronting Hooktail to buy the first Attack Up badge from that guy in the city beneath Rogueport so I can get a boost against Hooktail. For that game, Spike Shield, attack ups (especially All or Nothing and ATK+/DEF-, I'll take the hit to my defense any day) and level grinding in the few few dozen floors of the Pit (at least til I get the Strange Sack to increase inventory space) is great. Bobbery's nice for very high defense groups but otherwise singularly, Goombella's still the damage champ. I focus on Attack+ badges since you can max out your HP/FP just by leveling up.įor the second game, Goombella's the go-to partner mostly, but Koops is good for enemies that can't be jumped on til you get Yoshi, and Vivian's good for groups and things that (apart from Yoshi) require a special touch. Goombario is the favorite because he's similar in how he attacks (especially Multibonk) til I get Watt whose attack ignores defense and because it lets you identify invisible ? blocks on the map. Also, for Bonetail, I put Flurrie in front so Bonetail's physical attacks only hit her, I use Power Lift, and have her use Lip Lock to suck more HP from Bonetail than he can take off of her.įor the first game I try to get Spike Shield as soon as possible so Mario can basically whomp anything with the shoes since they do more damage as a double-hit than a single hammer blow, plus they can reach enemies the hammer can't. And Cortez's third phase I have Flurrie blow his weapons away so they don't come back. Two hits are enough but I like to overkill this cruel cloud. Puff, I put on Stone Caps starting when he charges up, while having Goombario use Charge 14 times, raising his attack by 28, and when I see I am down 14 FP, I use Multibonk. I'll give special mention to how I fight Huff N. Bowser/Thudley combo is four times Mario, Peach, and Luigi's normal attack and, along with blasts of flame, makes quick work of Super Dimentio. Recent playthroughs of the first game I'd be using Bombette's Power Bomb if I get three or four enemies.įor the third, whenever Bowser is in the party I use him and breathe fire when it comes to combat, though some enemies are easier to take out with Luigi. This is for the first two, and I pick which partner best fits the enemy situation. Badges I do use are Power Jump, Power Smash (replaced with Mega Smash when I get it), Peekaboo so I can see the enemy's HP, and Spike Shield so I can jump on spiked enemies that would otherwise be very difficult such as Koopatrols. Me, I actually don't make use of a whole lot of badges so I can raise my HP and FP more. Some have specific badge-related strategies. I saw my friend playing through very differently from me, and so did NovaLightSky. Everyone has their own strategies for it and there are many that work very well.
